The notion of quality naturally embraces
subjectivity beyond most judgmentally derived concepts. For me, the idea
of photographic quality begins with desire. This means love, passion,
questing, striving . . . for making pictures. I believe when you really
like to do something, it shows in the results. Artists naturally carry quality to new levels.
The pursuit of art as a personal quest to convey meaning beyond conventional
language requires striving for an essence beyond convention or the conventional.
To me this means bringing the love of my art to others. I apply myself
fully in my work and trust that the thread of quality weaves from conceptual
image to the final viewer to test my faithfulness to my artistic goal.

Subject,
place, what or where become transcended in art. It is the
image or the figure, the design, the color the blending the
separation, the line the void, the texture, density, ultimately the
subjective essence that brings art into the realm of meaning. |

'Direction III' |
If it were simply the subject in a picture, or
the shape of the statue, or the color of the glass that are important in art,
expression would not be allowed to challenge the viewer with ideas beyond simple
reality. This is why I constantly confront where and what in my
photography. These 'real' subject or aspects of an image at best bring superficial
expression. Only through seeing the mingling of light, shadow, color and
tone, line and texture, these and more, emerge for me to be the image.
This speaks of essence beyond reality. This
extends quality to the level I seek in making pictures. Quality becomes
woven into every aspect of my image making process, including what 'I' see and
seek to convey to the viewer.
While it is ultimately true that I make my
pictures somewhere and of something, those realities do not exist as my art.
They simply are facts of the piece, just as paint, canvas, paper or other
materials. Light and how I perceive it and record the interaction in the
natural world form my art.
My
goal, will forever be, to create a finished print that holds faithfully to nature and
of heirloom quality. All of my work will truly last for
generations of enjoyment. I use the finest materials available. From
the wonderful fine paper to the museum mattes and custom, solid hardwood frames, I craft
every element to the highest standards.

Fine Archival Print Quality
Showing the high quality of my images, matting and framing on the WEB presents a
tremendous challenge. Meeting people at my exhibitions, galleries and art
festivals allows people to see the details that I strive for in every finished
piece.
I want every thing about my work to reflect the
same diligents and care I pour into making my photographs in nature.
My heirloom quality archival color pigment prints are printed on 100%
cotton-fiber, acid free, archival paper or fine art canvas using state-of-the-art archival printing
techniques for generations of enjoyment.
Each print is matted using
archival museum quality 8-ply 100% cotton-fiber, acid free deep mattes for
esthetic presentation, or my canvas prints are stretched on custom, heavy-duty
stretchers. All of my framed work uses custom, solid natural
cherry or white maple wood. Of course, I am happy to accommodate your
wishes in customizing matte and framing details to match your décor.
