Colorado brings thoughts of inspiring mountains
and expansive forests, mountain lakes and cascading streams, all
wondrous and beautiful. These natural splendors set a
stage of diversity for photography. Rocky Mountain
National Park protects a high mountain ecosystem in
North-central Colorado where spring comes late and autumn
remarkably early. The massive Rocky Mountains run north
and south through the state seemingly dividing east from west
with unique diversity at every turn. In the high Alamosa
Valley of South-central Colorado the Great Sand Dunes hug the
southern flank of the Sange de Cristo Mountains which presents a
setting unique anywhere in the world. Of course, Autumn in
the Rockies offers a particularly colorful photographic
opportunity with such locations as The Maroon Bells South-west
of Aspen, Colorado where Aspen trees grace the slopes below the
rugged peaks reflecting in the lake below. Any of these
and a myriad other Colorado settings offer great opportunities
to explore photography with the potential for spectacular
results.
