Photography represents both work and joy
in life for Marv Poulson. "I strive to
engage the emotions evoked by the
natural realm, especially the mystery or
magical essence of light-play in the
world. My pictures emerge through
imagination and experience with the
interaction between light and subject."
Poulson works in natural light using
35mm and 4" x 5" color transparency film
scanned at high resolution to create a
digital file. He then edits his digital
files in the virtual darkroom of Adobe
Photo Shop and Corel PhotoPaint to match
the natural image. Poulson uses
museum-quality pigment printing
techniques and archival materials to
create luminous prints with full color
and tonal depth. Recent work includes
expansive images of wild landscapes and
intimate studies of the natural realm.
